Week 7 is Underweigh...

Hey Crackers,
I hope you caught the pun in my heading...
As Donna said in her last post from week 6, we are beginning to realize and reflect as we come closer to the end of our 8 week journey. Some of you have found a new lifestyle and one that is incredibly powerful. Your mental focus and dedication coupled with the vigor for finding exercise at every opportunity that each day presents has given so many of you, a new view of life.
I must say that I am overjoyed at the way the chemistry of manipulating proteins and carbohydrates has permeated your foundation of knowledge about nutrition. Don't ever stop learning about the science of macronutrients and how they work in conjunction with your body...
It is an ever-changing experiment so don't become complacent and think you have it all figured out and let yourself relax the strategy of cracking the code and carb cycling. Stay on your game and you will reach your goal, if you haven't already.

I will be here to cheer and support as always and I wish you all a terrific week...

Always,
Tracey

hello crackers!
Long time no see and btw, Tracey, don't quit your day job cuz a comedian you won't make any $$$$ hehehhehe..you ARE loved though!
All is good here and so hard to believe NEXT week is week 8. My weight and body have changed a lot in that time, and I think I will continue the plan for a second time to get the last 7 lb off and reinforce the plan. Tell me what you all are doing please!
Who else is excited about anything goes night this saturday? I am not sure what I will have but the thought is kind of frightening. Tracey, anything you can say about the wknd coming up would be great!
Last but not least, I will not be able to meet this friday. Bob and I are going to Humphreys tomorrow afternoon and I won't get back till friday afternoon. That does not mean ya'll can't meet though!
Time for bed since I plan on hitting the elliptical early and then go have some good yoga time....ahhhhhh
namaste!

Yes Donna~ I will never be Phylis Diller... thank goodness:-)

As for your anything goes night... my words of advice are "be cautious!"

Remember that your body has learned to work efficiently with clean and quality nutrition so if you throw a lot of chemical-laden foods into your clean system... you will find that your body may not accept them and your system may not be able to process it.

After my first diet down in 2005,
I went out after the show and had a plate of pasta and 2 glasses of red wine and then proceeded to get violently ill. It can be like a poison in your system, so please take it easy and decide ahead of time what your "anything" is going to be on your anything goes night. Choose one thing and enjoy it but don't set yourself up for disaster by not setting perameters for yourself prior to going into the day.
You do not want to regret what is meant to be a relaxed moment by not giving yourself a definitive guideline to follow in order to succeed. You want to have fun with a favorite "cheat" meal on your free day without feeling horrible by over-indulging.

Like I always tell my kids, "Nothing is ever Free":-)

Eat responsibly and journal...

Always,
TT

Hello Crackers. It has been a long week. I have added running (only a mile so far) everyday to my 30 minutes on the elliptical. I am struggling!!!! I am so hungry..even more that carb deplete week. If I see, I want it. My journaling has gotten sloppy, I think I need to get more detailed to ensure I am eating enough (imagine that).

The scale remains the same...but I seethe loss in all of my clothes.

Looking for suggestions for foods..I want to shake it up and try neew things. Maybe that will help.

In the meantime, I am trying to stay away from the chesse Nips!

Happy weekend!

Karen,
You did great with your tuna steak and salad tonight in the face of trays and trays of pasta and garlic bread. What a job you did!!

As for being hungry.... answer the call with more protein and a bit more carbs. Lets call in 20 grams more protein and 10 grams more Complex carbs a day and see how that does for your hunger. Keep tabs on how your clothes feel and how you look in the reflection. Also check the scale every once in a while to be sure that all is well:-)
Hope that helps...
Always,
Tracey

Great Meeting Today!
Adele, Viviana and Annette sat with me in square table discussion at the library today. One of the most interesting of all the topics was how to not let yourself become mentally obsessed with the scale~ to the point that you languish over every minute nutrient that goes into your body and you beat yourself up if you slack in the least.

My answer was to relax and allow your body to enjoy a decadent meal. Set the time and place and regularity at which you do this... I usually have my freebie on every other Friday evening.

This relaxation of your structure to the carb cycling throws your metabolism a curve and tells it that what was thought to be the same old same old, is not... you are telling your body, "so don't think about getting efficient on this cycling system we have going on here". It is a beautiful curve ball to your metabolism and allows you to enjoy a well-deserved treat once in a while. To actually turn your revving metabolism back to the way it was 7 weeks ago would take more than one treat meal to do... it would take quite a few. So don't beat yourself up over a relaxed meal...

In fact, if you stress over your supposed "failure" in discipline... that stress releases the hormone Cortisol into your body. Excess cortisol secretion can cause blood sugar imbalances such as hyperglycemia that requires insulin to balance, a decrease in muscle tissue and studies have also shown that people who secrete cortisol in response to stress also tend to eat more food, and food that is higher in carbohydrates than people who secrete less cortisol.

So there you have it... just enjoy the meal even if it is outside your plan and be sure that you schedule it and know that you are fully in control of choosing the fee meal time and place so that you give yourself structure and permission to have it.

Once you do, then don't think one more thing about the meal. Let it be done and treasured and then get back on to the task of cycling until the next planned free meal. This will keep your Cortisol level at a minimum and allow you to live life... because we know it is all about living it to the fullest!!

Always,
Tracey

hello cracker friends!
I missed you on friday! Good to hear the meeting went well and the discussion was lively! I had a blast in Humphreys at the super gym, downside was the pool was closed..BUT, got a wicked workout on their machines for an hour and a half!
I need to take heed of Tracey's scale advice. Although my body is firming up, there is no loss of weight going on. I need to get off the scale mentality RIGHT NOW.
I realized that I have 7 weeks till our Hawaiian getaway, so I need to get going on changing up my routine and that is where I will call upon our dear Tracey..
time to make a date with you my friend!!!!
Off to Osan for a dinner, and since it is ag day, I may have 2 beers or 2 glasses of wine. I really don't feel like I am in dire need of anything else...
hmmmmmm

Donna,
I am so glad you LOVED the super gym... I cried as I pulled away in the parking lot. It is such a blast! I felt kinda like a kid in the candy shop:-)

You have beckoned... and I am ready to help! Just tell me what a good time for you is and I will schedule you in. Lets go for weekends since my day job has me busy from 8 to 5pm... almost makes me want to break into a favorite tune of mine "she works hard for the money and you better treat her right...alright!!"
Name that tune sister and you will get a set of push ups free from me!

Talk to you this week and all you Crackers keep on keepin' on

Always,
Tracey

My pleasure to help you see your focus in a different way and I know that once you rely on your gel-belt you will glide thru the miles and finish your half with ease.

Hello Crackers...sorry it's been so long since I have been on. Tracey, first I would like to thank you and Donna for leading us into this new way of living. I can't even tell you how much better I feel. I know we have talked a bit but I would like to share with everyone my steady improvements. I have begun the slow and steady process of decreasing my medications...yes I am down to 10 mg of prednisone and what a difference it has made. The other meds may decrease, but they will be something that I will remain on forever and thats ok, it was the prednisone that was the worst. Donna took an outstanding picture of me today that I hope she will post soon, it was confirmation that I am well on my way to a healthier life style. I have increased my workouts and thanks to Donna I have begun my weights and abs. So my journey is delightful and I want to encourage everyone to keep going. Everyday is a challange as temptation is everywhere...m&m's and such that is. See you all Friday
